POT -POURRI

The students of Std XI Commerce and Science were treated to a Pot-Pourri (mixed bag) of quizzing on Saturday, December 12, 2009.

The 1st round was purely ‘academics’, where questions related to academics were asked.
The 2nd round was ‘zara haat ke’, which was divided into three sub-rounds. The first being solving the puzzles, the second was dumb-sharads and the third was a buzzer round where the four teams Agni, Bhoomi, Jal and Vaayu had to recognize the partially covered pictures of advertisements, politicians, singers, historical monuments etc. The 3rd round tested the students power to observe and remember things. A tray with 30 articles were passed around the contestants. They were then given 30 seconds to list out the articles in the tray. At the end there was a tie between Vaayu and Agni house. The tie breaker question was asked by a XII std student Vaibhav Patel and the ‘Vaayu’ House was the winner of the contest. The name of the winners are Jay Patel, Bharat Ambati, Vishal Chitlangya, Vishwa Shah . The winners were awarded certificates.

The students of XI-Science and Commerce participated in a contest wherein they had to put up a befitting caption to the above picture but on the School Blog.
They were given 2 days to think of an ideal caption having words not more than fifteen. The students participated with a lot of zeal & fervour . The captions they blogged were imaginitive, colourful with a definite message in them. The idea of this contest was firstly, to sharpen their thinking prowess; secondly, to make them use the Net constructively & last but not the least, to inculcate in them a Reading habit as they had to browse through a number of books to reach a befitting title. By the kind of mind boggling participation of the students the aim was completely achieved. The panel of judges comprising of teachers and ex-students judged the winners. Some of the winning captions are : -

MATHEMATRIX

MATHEMATRIX at H.B.K. Memnagar
There was an inter school Maths Quiz Competition – ‘Mathematrix’ held for secondary students. The highest scorers were selected through MAT (Maths Aptitude Test) in the Preliminary Round where each student participated. After the preliminary round the two participants from all the four houses AGNI, BHOOMI, JAL and VAAYU passed through the mathematical maze in the form of a Maths Quiz. There were in all three rounds – Multiple Choice Round , Visual Buzzer Round and Rapid Fire Round. The questions were displayed on OHP. ‘Mathematrix’ tested the mathematical skills of the students, wherein the ‘Bhoomi House’ emerged as the winner in the morning shift with the ‘Mathematrix Champions’ as Dushyant Shrama, Kush Patel, Fenil Gandhi and Shruti Tiwari. For the Noon Shift ‘Vaayu House’ was the winner and the Champions were Aayush Mehta, Parth Patel, Urmi Jethwa and Kruti

THE WINNERS OF E-BUZZ-CONTEST

‘ Should youth of today opt for politics as a career!’

Looking at the transition that education system is undergoing H. B. K. held an Inter House competition for XI Science and XI Com where the students were encouraged to write on the above mentioned topic but through ‘BLOGGING’. Each student should be computer savvy and to encourage them to participate in constructive things rather than be distracted by Orkut or Facebook, H. B. K. has created its own Blog and the students are encouraged to send in their suggestions, write articles give some new piece of information & spread awareness through the school Blog. There was almost 100 % participation which was overwhelming. The teachers with support of ex .students Harsh Kapadia and Anar Shah screened and judged their write ups based on a fixed criteria. Which was finally evaluated by Principal Mam. It was very difficult to sort out the winners. But finally the selected winners of the contest were.
